Trace

Terms of service

Last updated ·

The short version

Trace is free to play and yours to enjoy on your own devices. It has no accounts of its own. If you use Google Play Games, Trace signs in with it only to keep a copy of your progress in your own Google account. Trace shows ads and sells one purchase that removes them, and Google handles both.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Haysopht Games ("we"), a studio run by one independent developer, which makes Trace. By installing or playing Trace, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't install or play it.

Trace is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.

The Trace privacy policy explains what the game stores and what Google receives. Nothing in these terms removes a right that the consumer law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived.

Playing Trace

Trace is licensed to you, not sold. You may install and play it on your own devices for your own entertainment. We own the game and everything in it, including the name Trace.

You are welcome to post screenshots and video of your own play, including on channels that earn money, as long as you don't suggest we sponsor or endorse you.

Please don't redistribute or sell Trace, publish a modified version, reverse engineer it beyond what the law allows, get around the No Ads purchase, or send false progress to Google Play Games. Your license ends if you seriously break these terms. You can end it yourself at any time by uninstalling the game.

Google Play Games sign-in and cloud save

Trace has no accounts of its own. You never give us a username, email address or password.

If you have a Google Play Games profile, Trace signs in with it when the game starts, and you can also sign in from Settings. Trace uses that sign-in for one thing: keeping a copy of your progress in your own Google account, so it comes back after a reinstall or on another device.

To do this, Trace reads your Play Games player ID and reads and writes its own saved game in your Google account. It cannot see your other files, and it does not read your name, email address or contacts.

Signing in is optional. Without it, Trace plays the same and your progress stays on that device only.

When two devices use the same Google account, their progress is merged into one save. Start over, in Settings, clears your progress on that device, in your Google account and on your other devices. It cannot be undone.

Cloud save depends on Google's services. We hold no copy of your progress and cannot restore a save that is lost.

Your Play Games profile is governed by the Google Terms of Service.

Ads and the No Ads purchase

Trace is free and paid for by ads. Full-screen ads from Google AdMob appear between runs, never during play. We don't choose or endorse the ads you see.

Trace sells one thing: No Ads, a one-time purchase that removes those ads. There is no subscription and no virtual currency. Everything you can unlock is earned by playing.

Google Play takes the payment and ties the purchase to your Google account. Restore purchase, in Settings, brings it back on a reinstall or another device.

Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy. You can ask Google Play within 48 hours of buying. After that, write to us at developer@haysopht.com. If No Ads is refunded, ads may return.

Google's services

Trace relies on Google Play for downloads and the No Ads purchase, Google Play Games for sign-in and cloud save, and Google AdMob for ads. Google's own terms apply when you use them, starting with the Google Play Terms of Service. We don't control these services. If Google changes or withdraws one, the part of Trace that depends on it may change or stop working.

Changes

We may update Trace to fix problems or to add, change or remove features. Trace is made by a very small studio, and we may stop updating it or withdraw it from Google Play at any time.

We may also change these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes with them. If you keep playing after a change, you accept the new terms.

Trace is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be free of bugs, work on every device or keep your progress safe, and we disclaim all implied warranties.

To the same extent, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or progress, and our total liability for any claim about Trace is limited to what you paid us for it. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
